Steamed Ricecake | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Steamed Ricecake

We aren’t plan for this hot snack initially. But as we go on tickling our taste bud with those cold desserts, finally we decide that it’s better to have something warm to balance things out, haha. So here we go, a plate of Steamed Ricecake just arrived on the table. The cake was adequately smoothly baked with the rice flour flavor are noticeable, if you take a bite by itself. As for the fried toppings for the cake, it’s pretty dry and coarse. They doesn’t taste good nor hold any close resemblance to those that are served traditionally. The minced stuff should have contains some light gravy of pickled vege or radish, so as to give it a bit moisture, besides savoring it with some sweet paste and chilli sauce. Chilled Mango Sago & Ice Cream, which is visually inviting from the menu, but the outcome is a bit of let down. Presented in a small bowl with a melt-down ice cream which is half-sinking in the dessert, it has definitely deceit its original intention of ‘chilling out’ the mood, by looking at his facial expression, haha. It comes with cubes of mango that are nicely sitting down on the bed with sagos to top it up. They were mixed in a creamy whitish soup, which I suppose is coconut milk. The mangos are sweet luckily, but there are also traces of pamelo pulps to be found within too, but they are slightly bitter, which doesn’t really blend in well with the other fruit. The whole bowl enjoyment is pretty upside down for him I guess, haha. Well, lets just hope the next season, pamelo would be sweeter.
