Various Dishes

This small cafe at Krystal Point was so well-hidden that I almost overlooked it. It seems as if the proprietor deliberately cast an invisibility spell to avoid public attention. Firstly, the owner must be quite indecisive. On the homepage, he calls his cafe "Ming Marbelous Cafe", but the store front says "Ming Marvelous Cafe". Go figure. The owner-cum-chef-cum-server recommended that the two of us order in ala carte (煮炒) style. Per his recommendations, we ordered a plate of Braised Chicken With Onions (RM7.00), Yellow Curry Chicken (RM7.00), and Sweet & Sour Pork (RM6.00). Rice is complementary, but we included a Fried Egg (RM0.50) each. I think the cooking is pretty normal, but at least his service is fast (since we were the only customer for the entire duration) and the owner was quite friendly to chat with us (same reason above). I think Ming's Marvelous Cafe is a "back-up" option in case there is nowhere else to go. But I am not sure how long its business can sustain if the owner does not lift the invisibility spell.

Nadeje Cake | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Nadeje Cake

Nadeje had open its branch to KL and to celebrate it, they offer a RM30 for RM50 voucher in Groupon. I bought it with my coursemate and redeemed it to celebrate their birthday. We choose to have different flavor instead of one whole cake, because it would be much nicer to be able to have many taste different taste. Sadly, there are only a few types left. I had the original flavor, green tea, cheese and tiramisu. Original Flavor- This is my all time favorite, and so happy that they still have a few pieces in the counter. It is basically mild cheese flavor. I like the cheesey taste, which to me, is just in the right amount. Cheese Flavor- This particular of crepe has a very powerful cheese flavor. The rich flavor tends to be a bit too strong for me even thought Im a cheese lover. Green Tea- This mild taste of green tea is quite nice. I am surprise how well the cheesey taste and green tea complement each other. The creamy cheese in between each layer of crepe and slight touch of green tea is very nice. Tiramisu- Not a favorite of mine because of the overwhelming cream. Apart from the topping, the cream in between the crepe is slightly thicker compared to others. The tiramisu’s coffee flavor is mild.

Roasted Duck | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Roasted Duck

Loong Foong Seafood Restaurant located in Paramount is famous with its roasted duck. This is one of the famous roasted duck available. I visited this restaurant to have a dinner here. We have a roasted duck, fried vege and vege in stew. Roasted Duck- When it is served, the look is very attractive. Brownish shinny skin and grayish white meat. The taste is quite dull I would say, only some part are flavorful, and the thick part is just plain duck taste. I like the skin, though it Is not crispy, but they are very tasteful. The duck is very tender, and I especially like the dripping juice. They are very flavorful. These duck are served with a dipping sauce, which is very dilute. The taste is similar with the marinated duck and I think it is the liquid stored inside the duck during cooking. Fried Vege- It is a special vege, whom d waiter strongly recommended. We totally dislike it. The vege itself is quite ok, but the way the chef cook it is too oily. They are lack in seasoning too. Vege in Stew- This is my first time trying this dish, and surprisingly, I fall in love with it. I like the stew very much, they are very flavorful. There are season egg, mushroom, and vege in it. The soup is very thick and full with flavor.

Lee sin kok lian is located along Jalan Batu Berendam and is quite confusing with the one direction road if not familiar with this area. The GPS coordinate locates somewhere at an approximate location of 2.249752,102.255163. They accommodate to the needs of the locals and around this neighbourhood people are familiar with the restaurant and the dishes they served. The restaurant sells extensive menu of choices of dishes in chinese cuisines and nicely giving it a twist with some very home cooked recipe and technique. Tai chau and siu chau is actually probably the closest food to home cooking style one can find when not lucky enough to dine at home all the time. When away from home after a certain period of time, mother's cooking becomes the most delicious food one can ever find in the entire world. It is often unsure why but growing up with mum's food does play some role cul turing ones palate. I always believe the exquisite palate to being finickle with flavours and quality of food is in one way or another influenced by the capability of mum being so skillful with her dishes. Rendering the ability to taste and savour good food probably is courtesy of mum but through years of savouring, I also learn to appreciate efforts of a cook or chef.

Pepper Corn Pasta

I visited Spaghetti Grill Paradigm Mall branch to have my dinner. It is located at the upper ground floor. The waiter welcomes me and my friend warmly and showed us to our seat. She is then handed a menu to us, and straightly recommended their dinner set. Since it was pretty worthy, we go for it. We had Pepper Corn Pasta for main course. There are complimentary soup of the day, a bottomless drinks, and dessert to go with it. I had a Chicken soup, Isotonic Drink. Chicken Soup- I do like the creamy and thick soup, but it is served warm not hot. And this is the first time I ate it with a piece of biscuit, because normally we will have garlic bread. It is pretty tasty but lack in chicken flavor Pepper Corn Pasta- It is pasta with a grill chicken and a piece of garlic bread. I like the garlic bread so much, as it has a strong garlic and butter fragrant, and crispy texture. The chicken is surprisingly quite moist, thought it is a chicken breast, but slightly lack in seasoning, just a plain chicken taste. It is my first time trying pepper corn, and surely not my favorite; it is so mild in taste and just simple milky sweet taste. The pasta is quite okay in texture, well cooked with the chewy texture. Dessert- It is a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A simple way to end the meal. I like the mild taste of vanilla, with super creamy and smooth texture.

I normal had the RM1 muffin which came in 3 flavor, Butter, Chocolate and Blueberry. Apart from the muffin, their donut is oso one of my favorite. Muffin- The muffins here are freshly baked daily. I personally like the butter flavor and chocolate flavor. The butter flavor muffin is soft and the butter taste is very strong, but sometimes the flavor will become too rich. The chunk of raisin in it really ease down the rich flavor. I like the sourish sweet taste of the raisin, and it compliment the butter flavor so well. The chocolate muffin is also my favorite. This is a real deal of chocolate, as there are a lot of chocolate chips top on it. The cake itself is very rich with chocolate taste. I like the rich texture and flavor of chocolate of this muffin.

The salad might not have been the best salad I have had, and remembering the best would be the tofu salad in the zanmai sushi. This one is bland and unappetising compared to the one with those soft tofu. But this is a good choice to replenish the need for vegetable in your diet. Considered to be one of my favourite, the dishes in the Sakae sushi chain is always consistently good when it comes to taste, quality, and the freshness. Also the very well trained staffs which would always make dining experience even more pleasurable. The seating and the interior of this place is nothing to be bragged about because it is a franchise. It is sufficiently comfortable and suitable for comfy meal. The portions of the serving are nicely prepared and there would be some more space for those who like the ordering add on. There are few items on the menu that is very suitable as communal dishes for sharing. Those spinning plates of delicious sushi on the rotating belts is the awesome thrill when dining in Japanese restaurant with belts. Of course when it comes to items like raw fishes, lets try and avoid the spinning ones and ask for fresh ones from the kitchen. I really don’t think any restaurant should be serving raw items on the belt. It is so important for it to still be fresh when dinners have it. For the sake of both hygiene and the taste wise.

Steam fish

Taipan Live Seafood Restaurant located at Taman Merdeka Jaya is quite new for me. I seldom dine in this area. I visited this restaurant while I was dining with my family. We had quite a few dishes such as braised tofu, vege in stock, steam fish, steam chicken and crabs. Braised tofu- normal taste but I like it because Im a tofu lover. The tofu is soft and the taste is quite nice too. There are quite a lot of ingredient in the braised sauce such as baby corn, meat, carot. Vege in stock- I like this dish because the stock soup is very sweet. The vege is cooked till it is soft. There are chunk of mushroom in it too. Steam fish- The fish is fresh. I like the way they cooked it, which is the Hong Kong style, just simply adds in some fried garlic and soy sauce to enhance the fish. It was quite a huge fish, and the meat is quite thick. The slight salty taste bring up the seafood sweetness of the fish. Steam Chicken- It is a strong flavored chicken, with a lot of ginger, and some cooking liquor to steamed the chicken. I like the taste but not the chicken. The meat is overly cooked and slightly hard and too chewy. Something that annoyed me is the waitress, they are so not professional, as my bro in law bring in some foreign fruits for our dessert, and the waitress simply disturb our dining by asking what is that, and ask for it. It was a pretty rude action.

Bought a voucher from Yokozuna Casual Japanese Dining located at the Fraser Place in Jalan Perak. It is at the ground, at the left from the main entrance. There are bamboo decorations being upright all around the restaurant, somehow act as isolation barrier with the walkway. I was welcome by the waiter and escorted to my seat. I had a Salmon Ishikari Nabe Zen as it is one of the most expensive dish available. Salmon Ishikari Nabe Zen- It is a claypot slamon with assorted vegetables in a clear miso broth. At first look, the claypot salmon do not seen appetizing. I was totally wrong, the taste is very strong with seafood sweetness, and slight salty with the miso flavor. The portion is quite fulfilling, there are a lot of salmon meat in it. They are 100 percent cooked and yet the meat is still soft and tender. The meat is from the fish jaw part, quite chewy in texture. My favorite part is, there are a few chunk with thick jelly like texture under the skin, which is the collagen. They are very soft and tasty. Apart from the fish, there are some vege in it too. When it was served, there are complimentary rice, Japanese pickle, cut fruit and a Chawanmushi. Im not really favor the pickle, because their lack in taste. The chawanmushi is quite nice, and there are chunk of meat and crab stick in it.

I was coincidently in the walkway, and the smell attracts me. When I reach the shop, it was a long queue. So I also went to queue as the smell really made me mouth watered. Sadly, when it was my turn, the coffee bun is finished. So I had a normal butter muffin instead. Butter Muffin- From the look, it is quite beautiful with the strip of chocolate flower strip in it. It is plastic wrapped all over, and I can know it is fresh and hygiene. The taste is quite nice, I super like the strong butter taste. It is moist and soft. I like the creamy taste of the muffin. Something to emphasize here is the service, the staff was so friendly, she apologize to the customer politely and introduce the other product to the customer. I was not tending to buy anything at first, but since she was so friendly and polite, and after she persuades me to buy the muffin, so I just bought it.

I revisit The House in e@curve for a gathering with my coursemate. I was surprise that the captain is still remembered me and welcome me warmly. He is very polite and patiently took our order, as there are 11 of us, and we took quite some time in ordering the food. He patiently explain each of the food. At last, we had “House” Club, Spaghetti with Tomato and Basil with black olive sauce and Penne Pasta with Salmon. “House” Club- Toasted white bread layered with turkey bacon and ham, fried egg, tomato and lettuce. It is served with salad and fries. I like the stuffy fries so much. They are little seasoning on it. The salad was drizzle with some olive oil and some citrus juice, very refreshing taste. The sandwich is quite nice, a variety of ingredient with different texture and taste. Spaghetti with Tomato and Basil with black olive sauce- Not really my favorite though, as I don’t like strong tomato taste. The spaghetti is quite nice, well cooked with chewy texture. Apart from the strong tomato taste, the chunky sourish is quite nice. Penne Pasta with Salmon- In smoked salmon cream sauce, vine ripped cherry tomatoes. This is really my favorite. I had this during my last visit. I fall in love with the rich cheesy flavor of the penne. It is very well cooked, and yet still maintains its chewy texture. I like the big chunk of salmon on top. The outer layer was pan fried, little crispy and the inner part is slightly overly cooked, but the flavor is still very intense.

It was full house, and the outside seats were full. I had their signature Hokien mee. The waiter, who is taking the order, is using an Ipad to order the meal, very advanced. The food was served pretty fast. Hokien Mee- When it was served, the fragrant soy sauce is very strong. There are quite a lot of ingredient, such as cabbage, meat, and most importantly the pork oil fries or ZHU YOU ZHA. The taste for me is quite normal. The noodle is well cooked, the texture is little chewy and soft. The cabbage is totally cooked, soft and without the crunch. I like the crunchy port oil fries, as it is crunchy and add in some texture and flavor to the noodle. The taste is quite plain actually, just the soy sauce, and I will put in some little black vinegar to go with it, and some sambal, as they are served on the table.

Grilled Lamb Rack Coated With Sour Plum Sauce Served with Apple

Bought a voucher online for to dine in this beautiful restaurant. Quite cheap though, RM25 for 2 packs, with salad starter, soup, main course, and dessert. I had a Mushroom Soup, Caesar Salad, Grilled Lamb Rack Coated with Sour Plum Sauce Served with Apple and Dessert. Mushroom Soup- when it was served, I was amazed by the big bowl. The quantity was so small. I counted, I finished it within 10 spoon. Well, apart from the small quantity, the taste is quite nice. There are chunk of mushroom in it, and the mild flavour of mushroom is quite okay for me, and the creamy soup is quite rich Caesar Salad- again, it is a big bowl with just a small amount of salad. Pretty simple ingredient, green salad, egg, cherry tomato, mayo. I like it as the salad is dry as I don’t like liquid accumulate at the bottom of the bowl. Grilled Lamb Rack Coated With Sour Plum Sauce Served with Apple- I was not aware about the sour plum sauce served with apple at first. When it was served, I thought it is a normal lamb grilled. After finished the meal only I asked again for the menu, then only I notice the weird taste sauce is the sour plum. Totally disappointed with the meal, as the lamb is very hard and very hard to chew, even to cut it, honestly, my hand was quite sore because of cutting the lamb. The taste is weird, not salty, not sweet, not pepper, it is just char flavour with oil. Then come the dessert, I have no idea what it was. The taste is even weird, so as the texture. We suspect it was a melted ice cream, and then frozen again. Apart from the lousy meal, I like the ambient of this restaurant. It is very well decorated, and the atmosphere is very nice. The waiters are quite friendly and polite.

During the fasting month each year, we look forward to the Ramadan market where there is assorted variety of halal food. This is also in my opinion the best places to get authentic Malay food that is not overpriced and delicious at the same time. Having said that, it is not advisable to immediately over stuff yourself with too much food during the break fast. The awesome part about these bazzars are the variety of those good food, as well as the affordable and reasonable prices. Not to mention how it was really fun and happening to see so many people of all races gather at one place to enjoy what we like so much about being a Malaysian. Apart from sharing the many festive and cultural celebrations, one of the best ways to also demonstrate the harmonious of plural society in a multiracial country like Malaysia is through food. Food brings people together without distinctive feature of creed or ethnicity and colour of skin. Ramadan is the fasting month for the Muslims worldwide and is considered the sacred month of the Islamic calendar. Melaka is popular and probably well known for the tourism and the jonker street. The Ochado is making a comfy position to be located at the Jonker street itself. The love for milk tea but disliking the pearls would mean that the solution is either omitting the pearls or having the ochado pop eggs. The coffee pop bubble gave the bursting kick of coffee sensation on top of smooth and mild milk tea. I also tried the aloe vera honey tea which honestly did not impress me much. Tasted pretty ordinary and underwhelming given there are so much other choices that are so much tastier and more exotic and unique of its kind. There are so many out there and the pioneer chatime which brand it so well and big in Malaysia already is probably their foremost first competitor. My favourite is definitely the matcha green tea. Mildly sweet and slightly bitterly refreshing, the addition of ice to this drink is almost close to fabulous. Since the first trial of the mango mille crepe cake in kepong branch, I decided to order again and try it one more time because the first trial did not quite do them justice. This time around, I tried the chocolate mille crepe. Slightly better than the first but I would love to explore more on my next visit.

Stewed slice fish with preserved vegetables in sechuan style is selling for RM28 and is absolutely worth it for the fish slices are really fresh and the method to preparing this in the sechuan style might have been quite a waste given the freshness of the fish but is still amazingly appetizing. The Salted prawns with salted egg yolk sells at RM35 and it might have been slightly overpriced given the tiny amount served. However, the taste and flavour were all balanced so well and perfectly moderate to render the flavour to the otherwise bald and tasteless prawns. The opaque flesh from the prawn is not chewy or compact when chewing but slightly mushy in texture. The Crispy caramelised eel for is something unique for chinese dishes as we commonly have eel in Japanese dishes or sushis. This one sells at RM 16 and the texture is somewhat great with the clever use of method to caramelize the otherwise soft textured eel. The tea served is really expensive but enjoying some nice aromatic tea after meal is quite an enjoyable experience. The seating are spacious and accommodate hence being actually very suitable for big groups or just a simple comforting meal.

Being one of the earliest pizza chains in Malaysia, they are constantly coming up with new menus and the most recent one is filled with lots of ingredients. Their local sensations are often breath taking and overwhelming most of the time. The few menus that is always great is the basic menu that is familiar to most of us. Almost everyone in the family would have a favourite pick. Mine is always the island supreme and I like it on the stuffed crust. My mum would always have the Hawaiian supreme while my sis would always go for the deli wings. Once in a while I would give in but most of the time we would ignore her since no one else is a fan of the deli wings. To be fair to them, the wings are actually quite good. Essential key to beautiful sushi is the freshness of the ingredients. Certain outlets with lower traffic tend to serve ingredients that are not too fresh resulting in the lack of quality in their sushi. Reason being, they would have to store their stocks a little longer hence most of the time, their sushi is not that impressive compared to those with higher traffic of customers. Maki rolls are sushi with Japanese dish of sushi rice, fish, and/or vegetables wrapped in a seaweed sheet (nori). Most of the time they are rolled in sizes that is pleasant and enjoyable when eating. The kappa maki is this seaweed rolled rice with japanese cucumber in it. Taste amazingly refreshing when japanese cucumber is used instead of the local cucumber. There were few encounters where they use local cucumber and it was less impressive compared to the serving with the use of japanese cucumber in their kappa maki. We were craving for salmon but the closest salmon you get is the deep fried salmon head. Thus, instead of salmon, the crave was replaced by their grilled saba fish. It was slightly short from salmon but nonetheless still great on its own.

Korean Shik Hye

When comes to dining at Korean food, I usually would go for their specialty, so as to fully immersed myself into their rich culture. As it is still the early evening, we decided to go for a healthier high tea then :D Here we have the Korean Shik Hye drink. This beverage actually resembles the Rice Nectar drink that I enjoy lots at Oiso. It is sweet and refreshing with some little white rice grains as well, since the cold drink is made from rice. Some light flavour of ginger is also present that helps to zeal up this sweet rice punch! Slurps! Another nice candidate to accompany along a nice spread of Korean cuisine is this Oksusu Cha. This is pretty common and normally known as Korean corn tea, that is made from boiled roasted corn kernels. Therefore, you might taste some smokiness sensation in the drink occasionally. It is not sweet but able to tantalise your tastebud with the subtle fragrance of the corn. Lighter in colour and also aids in food digestion. No wonder it’s traditionally known as a good remedy for many illness such as for those with high blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney issue. In addition, there is another tea that I find it really enjoyable and you too, should try; Maehwa cha or literally known as plum tea. It has got the really refreshing aftertaste; with mild citrusy of the plum amidst the natural sweetness of the fruit. It would be one of the best companion when you are feasting on meaty this as this tea could help you clear your throat better and the best part is, the tea itself has a very soothing floral aroma, with some cherry-like touches. I have also heard that dark-colored tea is good in helping getting rid of fats from the body, sounds good right? Loving it!

Yaki salmon rice ball

If you like Japanese rice ball, you must try Sumo Onigiri. It is located at Damansara Utama. I try the Yaki salmon set, comes with Yaki salmon rice ball, mashed potatoes, chawan mushi, and miso soup. The rice ball is topped with roast salmon and wasabi sauce. It tastes quite good. Their mashed potato is smooth and sweet. I like it. I will come back again!

Seafood Tom Yam Soup | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Seafood Tom Yam Soup

A Thai cuisine won’t be complete without their signature soup, Seafood Tom Yam Soup. The seafood was fresh and you may find several big prawns in the moderate spicy soup. There were very succulent and the squids were very tangy too. Overall taste was meagre as we find it isn’t sour enough! :P Next to join us was this Fried Lala with Dried Shrimp in garlic. The dish was pretty simple but delicious. Apart from enjoying the sweetness of Lala, diners get to enjoy the fragrance of dried shrimp fried in generous minced garlic. The accompanied light soup was savory as well. Yum yum! As for this plate of 4 Vege Type dish, it’s equally delish, if it’s less salty. There were brinjals, long beans, okras and leafy greens, alongside with two juicy prawns. I have always enjoy brinjals for its smoothness and high in fibre content :D To end the night on a sweet note, there you go, Mango Sticky Rice. This is my second time savouring Thai styled dessert after Celadon, and bet, I learnt from there :D The mango here somehow was not that impressively sweet, but the sweet goeey glutinous rice compensate that lacking. If only it were drenched with more santan gravy, than it’d be superb! Guess this fare was won by Celadon :P After the enjoyable meal, we headed home feeling accomplished and in the end, brushed off the crazy idea to go for dessert in Puchong, haha. May be some other time :D

Japanese Curry Noodles with Chicken | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Japanese Curry Noodles with Chicken

Thinking to have some dishes that is rich in spice and yet not too fiery hot? Then Japanese Curry Noodles with Chicken from Ichiban Boshi would be a good option :D This is because our tomodachi from the place of Rising Son, is emphasize more on flavor rather than spiciness. Having said that, am bit perplexed when I see this bowl arrive on my table. No wonder it’s a small portion as we only find out upon referring to the menu again; it’s Half Curry Udon, that explains the decent size of it :D The udon served here is soft and not too thick. Most importantly, not too floury either. This plain noodle is best served with savoury curry gravy that gathers assorted greens like cucumber, carrots and some potatoes. I particularly enjoy the potatoes, which are very soft, and it always makes the best companion with any curry. It isn’t spicy as our local spices, and very fragrant indeed. Therefore, those who can’t take hot stuff could give this a try.

Mango Milk | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Mango Milk

Spicy Nissin Noodle It does reminds me of a hot warmy bowl of Ramen by looking at its presentation, hehe. But it is of Nissin noodle instead, one of the noodle types which is made famous in Hong Kong. The noodle is springy and smooth. Having good texture as you chew on them. The crisp bean sprouts do lend a hand in giving the diner more refreshing feel while enjoying this spicy-flavored noodle. The addition of sweet corn too helps to bring up the sweetness flavor of the dish overall. For better taste, you may soaked the fried egg in the gravy longer to get it dense with more curry flavor . Fried Dory with Curry This fare seems a bit of like Japanese fusion as it is also served with naruto fishcake . This menu comes with several cutlets of fish fillets of dory fish, that has been fried till golden brown. It is slightly crispy on the skin as the curry gravy has dampened it a bit, but the meat within still soft and juicy. The curry is decently savory and not too spicy, but rich with onions slices to zest up the dish. Besides, the plain omelette is further enriched with curry flavor as it soaks up the gist of the gravy and pairs well with a bowl of white rice . Ho Chiak! ^_^ Mango Milk & Milk Tea What’s better than to clear the throat with some cold beverages after some spicy gastronomy? Thus my call is for this Mango Milk. It is cooling and milky, with the necessary mango element to complete this drink. For a moment, it reminds me of the yogurt drink that I used to have, hehe. Such a refreshing glass to chill you out .As for the milk tea, I think I still prefer the one served by Wong Kok chain. The quantity of milk is decently acceptable, but I would prefer it is has more richness of tea in it too. It is not too sweet, thus still make a good choice after some carbo intake

I visit the PappaRich at Kota Damansara branch. Pappa Nasi Kunyit with Curry Chicken It comes with nasi kunyit, curry chicken, peanuts, and cucumber. Ipoh Koay Toew Soup with Chicken Slices Flat rice noodles in fresh chicken soup, topped with chicken slices, bean sprouts, and spring onion. It is normal and a light dish. If you get cold, it is suitable to eat this soup. Hainan Toast with Kaya & Peanut Butter This toast is really delicious. The bread is hot and soft, comes with Kaya & Peanut Butter is nice.

Braised Chicken Drumstick Rice

We dropped by at Little Taiwan for some nice dinner to pamper ourselves after some active shopathon :D The café exuded some freshness feel with its lively green theme that kept diners enjoying meal cozily. We were able to secure a nice couch at the corner for that time, it wasn’t crowded, so thank God ^^ Homemade Onion Pancake It arrived hot and best savoured whilst they were crispy. The filling of stir-fried onion mixture was toothsome and flavourful, which was awesomely paired with the light crisp layer of pastry skin. A decent portion of salas was served alongside this fried fritters, which helped to improve the overall enjoyment without feeling cloying. Thumbs up! ^^ As for his marvelous selection was this set of Braised Chicken Drumstick Rice. Upon finishing his meal, he non-stop complimenting how nice and homey the dish was. The chicken meat was tender and juicy which had been braised under flame for adequate hours, that reminded him of the awesome home-cooked food by mom. Such a sentimental bro for that day! tongue The set meal came with three side dishes and seaweed soup. They were equally tantalizing. Then he washed down his throat with this Honeydew Milk Tea. It came with dark pearls as well which were quite chewy! ^^

Steamed Ricecake | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Steamed Ricecake

We aren’t plan for this hot snack initially. But as we go on tickling our taste bud with those cold desserts, finally we decide that it’s better to have something warm to balance things out, haha. So here we go, a plate of Steamed Ricecake just arrived on the table. The cake was adequately smoothly baked with the rice flour flavor are noticeable, if you take a bite by itself. As for the fried toppings for the cake, it’s pretty dry and coarse. They doesn’t taste good nor hold any close resemblance to those that are served traditionally. The minced stuff should have contains some light gravy of pickled vege or radish, so as to give it a bit moisture, besides savoring it with some sweet paste and chilli sauce. Chilled Mango Sago & Ice Cream, which is visually inviting from the menu, but the outcome is a bit of let down. Presented in a small bowl with a melt-down ice cream which is half-sinking in the dessert, it has definitely deceit its original intention of ‘chilling out’ the mood, by looking at his facial expression, haha. It comes with cubes of mango that are nicely sitting down on the bed with sagos to top it up. They were mixed in a creamy whitish soup, which I suppose is coconut milk. The mangos are sweet luckily, but there are also traces of pamelo pulps to be found within too, but they are slightly bitter, which doesn’t really blend in well with the other fruit. The whole bowl enjoyment is pretty upside down for him I guess, haha. Well, lets just hope the next season, pamelo would be sweeter.

Penang char keuy toew

Heritage Penang White Coffee is a Malaysian cafe, the precise location is at Jalan Jati 1, Gohtong Jaya, Genting Highlands. In fact, there are several restaurants on Jalan Jati. Most of the shops look like seafood restaurant, the price must be expensive. I would like to find a cheap price restaurant among this shop. At last, I visit the Heritage Penang White Coffee. Their price and menu are similar with Old town White Coffee. But their environment and interior design is better than Old town. It is a theme cafe for Penang food, such as Hokkien prawn mee, Curry mee, Assam laksa, Chay kuey teow and so on. Their menu is very new and beautiful. The char keuy toew, fried with prawn, bean sprout, clam, egg and keuy toew. It tastes normal. I don't like the clam, because it has fishy odor. Their assam laksa is not bad. The soup is very thick.

O'Briens Tripledecker | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

O'Briens Tripledecker

I guess O'Briens remains one of the best café in town that serves delicious toasted sandwich so far. Decked with varieties of paintings depicting the various toasties they have inhouse, the overall vibes created is condusive and comfortable. You would be greeted amiably by its friendly staff upon entering the café as well as the freshness of the vegetables sitting nicely at one corner. As the tummy is craving for something crispy yet healthy, so decided to go for the signature recipe, “O'Briens Tripledecker”. The triangular toasties are nicely laid systematically in the plate. They are nicely toasted and thus very crispy on the exterior surface. Sandwiching between is the toasted chicken slices, bacon, cheddar, coleslaw, tomato, red onion and mixed leaves. The bacon is especially crispy as it has been oven-baked beforehand to create a much crunchier sensation. This way, you won’t feel any oiliness but much more addictive bites! The dressing that used to complement the salad greens is also very refreshing indeed with its juiciness. Coupled with some chips, there is no other better way to go, other than to complete it with a nice cuppa of Hot Latte! The foamy layer on the top helps to smoothen the coffee while allowing your senses to fully incorporate with the nice aroma :D

I was at Pavilion KL and dropped by at Kindori, Tokyo Street outlet, to order for the famous Japanese ice cream. I have chosen ice cream in cup with combination of two favorite fruits, Raspberry and Strawberry from the Mix Series. The ice cream is made instantly upon order in front of customer and ready within two minutes. Raspberry and strawberry mixed ice cream was tasted a bit sourish and contains raspberry seeds. The sourish taste was the natural taste of these berries and acceptable. It was much tastier when mix with the fresh milk ice cream base. The thin waffle was crispy and goes well any ice cream flavors.

Located at One Ampang Avenue, Jalan Ampang Utama 2/2, 68000 Ampang, Selangor. Royal Palace is a Korean BBQ Restaurant. Most the Korean restaurants are famous for barbecue. Royal Palace's BBQ is very nice. I try the barbecue special set for chicken, pork & beef meat. The price is RM98, and this set is for 3~4 people. The boss is a Korean. He can speak simple English. He is very kindly and generous, because he gives us two cane drinks and a cup of rice wine for free. Sometimes, he will remind us the barbecue is well-done, already can eat. Even their waiter will help us to roast the meat, but I often can't see where is their waiter. Is he very busy?? The BBQ chicken is tender and tasty. The pork and beef are fresh and high quality. The slice of pork is soft and nice. The boss tells us that we can wrap the meat into the lettuce, then add some garlic and spicy sauce. It tastes quite good.

The environment is very simple without luxury decoration. The weather is cool. I try the Gollum meat first. They deep fried the pork, and then fried the pork with onion, pineapple, green pepper, and special sauce. It's not bad la. Oxyeleotris marmorata, we usual called Marble goby or Sand goby, because it grows very slow, the price is very high. Do you know what is the price for this fish? The answers is RM 208. It's really expensive, but the fish is fresh and tender, a yummy dish. Signature fried pork is very tasty. Must try this dish. The price is RM30. It seems like deep fried slice pork, it's very crispy and sweet. At last, have a cup of sugar cane juice....wow..so nice.

Sea Snails

What is a trip to Sekinchan if without seafood indulgence? :D After some quick exploration during the hot sunny day, we soon settled down at this humble restaurant at the neighbor for some delish seafood spread. Definitely we are not going to miss out the mantis prawn for it is one of the signature food over here. We are awed the moment it greets us for the prawn is real huge! Never before I saw any kind like this back in KL and is much cheaper here. So, needless to say, we enjoy satisfactorily :P The mantis prawn is actually stir-fried with black pepper under high flame to help infuse the pepper fragrance into the meat. The meat of mantis prawn is actually pretty coarser texture, compared with the smoother meat of usual prawns. Besides that, you might want to get more adventurous by trying the local sea snails. It is of course bit intimidating to me, but still I have tried out and the meat is actually very chewy and rather bland, if not accompanied by any sauce. Else, you could go for the safer fare like the Hokkien Char, that comes with thick silky noodle, Fried Mee Hoon or the fried UFO, a.k.a fish dumpling :D. Guess I enjoy the last two fares more :P Haha….
