Mushroom Chicken Chop Rice

I go to Cannes Tea House Cafe which also known as "Kang Chen" at Genting Klang to have my lunch. It provides a wide dining area with simple and plain decoration. It is good for a catch up with friend and relative during the free time while enjoying a rather cheaper meal compare to others. Most of their food is okay. I prefer the Baked Portugal Fish Rice and Portugal Chicken Rice personally. The Portugal Fish is spicy and tender. I love their sauce. Portugal Chicken Rice is nice with the special sauce. The chicken is soft and juicy!

I have been going to this stall since I moved to Pandamaran about 20 years ago. Those day, they used to operate along the main road (opposite Pandamaran A school) but few years back, they operate from their home which is behind their old stall. You have to be very early as they opened as early as 6am (or even earlier) and usually finished before 11am. They are very generous on the portion and the price is really reasonable. For those who like sambal, you must try their sambal. add some into your rice. Awesome

Located beautifully at the lake side within the Taylors University Lakeside Campus, this branch of ecobar clearly needs to put in a little more effort when serving their food, even if the dinners are simply mostly students and youngsters. This does not justify them serving lousy food just because the crowd still return anyhow whenever the café is open. My verdict after a soup, salad, and a main dish is that these returning crowds simply revisit because and only because they need food, or a place to hang out. Ambiance was not too bad while dusk beautifully sooth the dining mood very easily. The fist to arrived was the Calamari Salad which is crispy but also greasy at the same time on a bed of leaf lettuce. Leaf lettuce has a tender, sweet, mild flavor that makes them versatile for any salad, but with no effort at all, the salad was absolutely uninteresting at any level.

The lush weighted piece of lamb at 250 gm is grilled to perfection and served with fries and side salads. There are choices of sauce for topping and this clearly is not their forte, as it was so-so with nothing to be bragged off. Serving at RM 25, the fries are ordinary, and there were very little effort on the side salad. Do expect a little extra effort gnawing the very bland and really chewy lamb. The Asian delights at the 3 wise Monkey is also charmingly loaded with mostly local favourites. Being a half Peranakan, it is always intriguing whenever the nyonya dish appears on the menu. The Nyonya Laksa is something really ordinary. Egg noodles, prawn cockles, beancurd, eggplant, bean sprout, long beans in rich curry laksa broth with house special sambal and kaffir lime sounds sure sounds sheer, but not impressive enough to justify paying RM 15.

This restaurant is located just across from Queensbay Mall. It is difficult to notice from outside. The owner should make the store front more attractive if he wants to get more customer traffic. The menu is rather limited, probably because the restaurant is relatively new. There is a lunch set promotion in the price range of RM9 to RM12, which comes with the main dish, mushroom soup and drink (ice lemon tea). The main dishes that we selected are mushroom grilled fish and black pepper steak. Each comes with 2 side dishes: garden salad and mashed potato or fries. The meat is cooked just nice and the taste is acceptable. But the portion is too small. I don't think it is worth the money considering this. There are better deals nearby or in Queensbay Mall itself.

With so much burger joints in town, it is getting tough to actually decide which one prevails as the champion and the best amongst them all. One thing for certain is the burger joints each have their specialty and one can never have the best of everything under one roof. The Grind Burger Bar is located in SS 2 (same row as I’m Spicy). And with very limited parking bay around, this probably cuts them short compared to those with ample amount of parking bays. Starting with the famous Onion Rings of theirs, I must agree that they have really decent and relatively good onion rings. Not greasy at all, and I love the texture right from inside out. Selling at RM 9, this would serve perfect as a sharing starter. The dipping sauce is great to go with it.

There were 6 different set lunch to choose from the menu varied with prices range from RM 14 to RM 20 each set. Each set meals comes with a drink of your choice. This is what I had which is the cheese and spice sausage which cost RM 18++.The sausage was special where there was melted cheese inside the sausage. It wasn’t that spicy afterall. The sausages comes with mashpotato and coleslaw. The mashpotatoes was quite soft and smooth , topped with the brown sauce. The portion of this set meal is quite small compare to other set. By paying for the lunch set we get to sing for 3 hours from 12pm to 3pm, or 11am to 2pm. There was fried rice and spaghetti as well that cost only RM 14++ and includes a drink. The food was okay and it was worthwhile to have lunch while singing inside.

Each person cost RM 23 for the buffet and it comes with drinks and dessert as well. The steamboat has 2 choices of soup which is tomyam and chicken soup . There were a lot of ingredient to be choose from and there was ice-cream and dim sum too! Everything is self-service here, you just pick the ingredient you want and cook it yourself. It is a little hot and you will feel oily while eating there as the area was an open air area without air-conditioned. This drink taste sweet and I can see the fresh "mata kucing"- longan inside the drink. For those who cough can try their hot longan drinks which might cure for minor case. Sometimes you have to queue in order to buy the drinks especially at the hot weather. It cost around RM2 for a cup and normally they will add a lot of ice inside (almost half of the cup filled with ice). You can request to reduce the ice but I think they charge extra for that. It is still my favourite drink afterall.

They offer Terriyaki Grilled Chicken, The Tuna Melt, Cheesy Egg and Ham Lover which I opt for the latter. The bread was tasty and go very well with the ingredients. Just Love it. My friend dislike bread. So she order the Fried Black Pepper Udon. I don't like black pepper but I still try a bit. Hmm not bad but my friend say not so nice cause lack of black pepper :-p Both of us order the cooling type beverage but its turn out not so impressive. Tasteless. Restaurant Yu Kee Bah Kut Teh is one of the first few Bah Kut Teh (BKT) shops in the SS 14 Subang Jaya area. Having had the fast food reputation all these while, the serving time is consistently below five minutes. That is great for lunch if you have to rush. The last I visited them was about three years back and returning to them recently was quite some disappointment. The soup is no longer thick and with herbs and spices just brackish and mildly aromatic. Their meats are fresh, making it succulently delicious while the staffs were under trained to deliver the best of their dishes. When ordered an additional vegetable, it was mistaken as adding vegetables to the BKT. Thus, instead of BKT and vegetable, I get the BKT with vegetable.

From the name, one can already tell the similarity of this Yan Woh Tong and the Kwong Woh Tong chains. Both selling the same thing, except I find the latter slightly a little more authentic when it comes to their powdered medicine. The Chinese herbal tea is different from actual tea. The actual fact is that all tea types are from a same plant called the Camellia Sinensis. The herbal tea on the other hand do not consist any part of the tea plant. The Chinese herbal tea, constantly known as medicinal herbal tea is a kind of tea made purely from Chinese medicinal herbs in Guangdong China. Since they don’t contain any part of the tea plant, I would say it is more of a tisane rather than actual tea. Because tisane is a general term for any non-caffeinated beverage made from the infusion or decoction of herbs or any spice like plant material, the herbal tea (also known as leong char) is better categorized as the tisane than tea.

Vegetarian cuisine amuses me everytime I reviewed one. And every review not only impresses me but I learnt something new about their ingredients every time I made new discoveries. The greatest amusement is the vegetarian pork belly which has texture absolutely close to the actual thing. This time, I experienced the Mutton Curry served with white rice. The only thing missing from this mutton is probably their fatty acids. Perfect those who dislike the distinctive flavour of mutton. The Butter Milk Fish is incredibly creamy and because vegetarians do not consume garlic, the vegetarian dishes are usually uniquely different in flavours and aroma. The fish must be consumed quickly before the crisp becomes soften when soaked in the butter milk gravy. There is shitake mushrooms in it and garnished with chili.

The TGIF burgers is always a safe order for first timers and they were all good enough for burger lovers. The soft and fluffly bun of the right size nicely accompanies the patty while the potato stripped fries compliments the burger with some bite on fun. The Shrimp pasta is almost as good while the shrimps are really fresh. Reminded me of the shrimps in Bubba Gump. the pasta serving at a plump size is also great for sharing. It was very crispy on the outside and sweet on the inside. The tough texture reveals that the shrimps are fresh and cleverly soaked in ice water before stirring in the rich tomato paste. Unless avoiding pasta in the diet, this pasta is relatively good for sharing during dinner or lunch. And during those happy hours, one would have to refer to their rate for beers.

So they have ranges of dishes from fishes, to prawns and poultries like the pork of chicken. Then there are vegetables of an assorted cooking method and steam soup, for those who miss boiled soup from home very much. Speaking for myself that is, I ordered two soups at one go. I ordered my favourite, the watercress soup and the old cucumber soup. Both were amazing, except they were a little salty to my liking. I didn’t quite want to have fried rice, so we tried their fried rice. It was really rich with the aroma of the wok fire and heat so the fried rice was pretty awesome that way. Lastly, not forgetting the Guinness chicken, this is amazing and flavorfully coating the crispy dried chicken to enhance the texture of the chicken.

The combo set of Teh tarik place consist of a meal of rice and a drink and this combo lunch set cost RM 7.80. The meal consist of rice, rendang chicken and vegetable of the day, plus a choice of your favourite beverage. The teh tarik along many other beverages are slightly overpriced when ordered here. Almost fifty percent more of what we pay by at common mamak stalls. I still reckon this a good combo with comfortable seating and cozy ambience with air conditioning. Most mamak is relatively stuffy and hot at times. There is also assorted rotis, and we tried the roti empat segi as well as the roti planta. Sushi zanmai is nonetheless popular with their extensive choice of sushi. For something a bit more solid, there is always something more than just sushi to cater for the great variety of different palate of their dinners and customers. During classmate gatherings, we like picking this restaurant for our favourite Japanese dishes. There is always something for any of us. This time around, we had the teriyaki chicken or grilled squid, as well as some sushi roll. Some of the dishes are consistent while the rest varies every time you revisit the same outlet. If not, you will find each outlet is different when it comes to the dishes. I find the outlet here in paradigm is slightly smaller in portion but always fresher. This is probably due to the heavy traffic of dinners. During dinner time, there will always be a long line outside the restaurant waiting to be seated. Thankfully, the line moves continuously so we don’t quite have to wait too long for a seat. The California spider roll is great maki with ebiko coated on the outside for that great texture when chewing. The popping eggs was great to go with the soft shell crab. As for the chicken, they were also fresh but slightly a little more teriyaki sauce much to my dislike. However, the skin is great with very chewy texture. Take note that this outlet is really lack of staff especially when it comes to peak hours. I remember it took us very long before the serving assistant refills our tea.

The fried chicken taste fantastic, crispy and smells fragrant on the outside, tender in the inside. The next dish is La La King. The la la is bigger than outside. It is cooked with ginger, chilies and rice wine. It tastes not bad.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Prawns | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Prawns

Silver Spoons is filled with family and students from opposite building when I arrived. It was a good thing because the environment was not too quiet and not too noisy. If it's too quiet, then I won't be that comfortable to take pictures or chat to one another. If it's too noisy, then I'll get annoyed very easily. Silver Spoons is a western restaurant, their business hour is Mon-Sat 8:00 am - 10:00 pm. They have burger, grilled chicken chop, spaghetti, fish & chips, dessert etc. If you are a vegetarian, they also have some dishes for vegetarian, such as pasta aglio olio, pasta carbonara, fried rice and fried meehoon. I like their Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Prawns, it smells fragrant and taste nice. The prawn is fresh and the spaghetti is chewy but won't stuck in your mouth.

Steamed Fish With Asam

My friend told me about this place in Shah Alam near to iCity that serve up very good seafood with reasonable price. So I decided to visit Maha Mewah Seafood Restaurant. It serves authentic Chinese cuisine. The shop is quite new and its actually located at the Seksyen 7 road from iCity & UITM heading to Bukit Raja, Klang area. In Chinese, the restaurant name is “da fu gui”. The restaurant is 2 shops with air-conditioner but we preferred to sit outside as the weather was good on our visit. I love asam sauce, so I order Steamed Fish With Asam, the fish is soft with yummy asam sauce, recommend this dish! Steamed Fresh White Lala With Chilli Paste is Ok, the lala doesn't have strange odor.Steamed Crab is a normal dish. I think is nothing special, but Fried Crab With Chili Paste is nice.

Special sauce

Wo hoo! After some several slices gastronomy trips made, best to have some lighter food so that the tummy could be relieved of its frequent digestion job once while. It’s so happen on the 15th day of the lunar month, which falls on weekend that enable me to make a trip for my favourite vegetarian roll. It isn’t the usual spring roll that you usually seen at night market, but rather a healthy one in bigger portion as well:D The filling is adequately flavoured with natural ingredients like sengkuang, carrot and lots of julienned ginger! Never did I taste before so much ginger in a bite, but I suppose I still could handle it pretty well, hehe. The outside skin is actually very smooth and silky, that leads me into thinking that this might be the roll of chee cheong fun that use to wrap the ingredients, albeit slightly thicker. Oh ya, do remember to pair it with the sweet dark sauce when eating it for better flavor enhancement :D

Sweet Corn- Bi-color

Sweet Corn- Bi-color Whenever am craving for something light but nutritious for any late dinner, sweet corn would be my best choice :D Not that it’s nutritious, but also toothsome! If you buy the right corn correctly such as this Bi-color sweet corn, trust me, you gonna love its sweetness and also the freshness it exudes. When eaten at the right level of ripeness, each little pulp is very crisp and delish. You could then have it with either butter or just some minimal dashes of salt to go along, else, it’s actually pretty good to go if taken just it is. In addition, I did try to take the bi-color sweetcorn raw and guess what? It tastes awesome!

Bean curd with chicken and salted fish | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Bean curd with chicken and salted fish

There is this Xuan Xin restaurant located at Gurney plaza selling not only chinese cuisine but dimsum, dessert and snacks as well. I came here with my family and the place was crowded with people, almost fully seated even though the restaurant is quite big. Since we come in a group and not sure of what to have, we ordered the value set meals so that we can share the dishes togather. The set meals was meant for 2 people but the dish was big and its enough for 3. You can choose to have rice or porridge that comes with the set meals. The set meals cost around Rm 50 and we have 2 soup of the day, which is ABC soup, 2 choice of dish and a seasonal vegetables. We tried the Bean curd cooked with chicken and salted fish in claypot. The bean curd is soft and smooth, cooked well with the chicken. It doesnt taste too salty even though they added some salted fish into it. For the vegetables, we choose to have spinach cooked with sambal. Their sambal is nice, not too spicy, just right to mix with the rice, and the vegetables is quite fresh too. The soup of the day provided is the ABC soup. Not much ingredient given , just a normal plain soup with the taste of carrots and potatoes. They have a special menu for desserts as well, but since we are full so we might try it nex time. I can see alot of families having lunch and dinner at there.

After study on the Internet a while, we finally gave it a try. I would say I liked the atmosphere, the very friendly service and of course the excellent quality of food. We had ordered Spaghetti Aglio Olio and Spaghetti Aglio Olio Tutto Mare. After having the spaghetti, we had a dessert - lemon pie. I really like their lemon pie, it has a great taste which would make me like to eat one more. The menu here is written in Italy with English sentence describing below. There were many people there, so it took us a bit long time to wait for the food. The price in this restaurant is a bit high. But the food and atmosphere here worth the price.

Look into Malaysia, old town is everywhere. Just like all the old town in Malaysia. The food here is good, service not bad. As for the environment, you will feel crowd in the afternoon. The price is not as expensive as starbucks and coffee beans. The menu offered a good selectin of food (local foods) all day. What I ordered, the kaya toast, ice tea and cooked egg. Especially recommend the kaya toast, taste really nice. We sat for hours, using their internet wi-fi. Old town offers free wi-fi all around Malaysia which is a good location to take a break and browsing the Internet.

Salmon Steak Set | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Salmon Steak Set

Salmon Steak Set Another Zen dining at the neighboring eatery, Tokyo Don! ^^ We were lucky to be able to some nice seat at the decently spacious outlet, for we just walked in without any prior reservation for 5 pax :D After seated down comfortably, we flipped through the menu and were eager to start our meal very soon for our tummy had been gnawing since just now :D At the same time, we were also treated with some chilled toufu which were very smooth and silky. So we have this Salmon Steak Rice Set. As usual, I enjoyed fish dishes very much. The salmon was very fresh with its skin slightly crispy from the teppanyaki way of preparation. You could really taste the juiciness in it. While each grain of the rice was very fragrant, with some drenched in savoury sauce and black pepper flakes, the stir-fried greens were crisp too with some buttery flavor. Yum yum! Double Pair Set For this set, you could have the best of both worlds as this pairing came with a bowl of Udon and also Sashimi. The udon was chewy and taste great with its clear broth while the raw salmon was undeniably fresh, and I great to go with the vinegar-drenched rice underneath it. Thus, the rice would taste tad sourish and kinda tickle your tastebud :P Before going off, as usual, we would have some hot ocha to clear the throat and warm the tummy :P

Boston Cake

Another worthwhile visit to this scrumptious bakery of The Rotiman. Just that this time is another new found area of Sri Petaling. Guess another hidden gem in town. We bump into this delectable and fluffy Boston Cake. This cupcake actually reminds me Hokkaido Cake, which is made famous recently and a trend-setting for the range alike. Usually, these sorts of cakes would come with a creamy filling of various flavours, but in this case, would be of vanilla variety. The cake itself is very soft and spongy, more moist than the normal cupcake. It comes with a generous filling of vanilla cream, which makes it sinful and also enjoyably delish at the same time. Call it a case of love-and-hate? ^_^

Vegetarian Dish | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Vegetarian Dish

It was one of those day where I would be craving for nice vegetarian food. So for Friday’s lunch, I have this healthy fare at the easily accessible mall. There was quite a long queue by the time I reached, with various dishes for you to choose from. They all look good and fresh. And so, I help myself with some of the choices. A decent plate of rice with 3 dishes, is enough to fill up my carbohydrate quota. The French beans are stir-fried nicely and not overly cook. You can see from the light green color the vege exudes. Same goes for the bitter gourd which are cooked alongside with some pickled black beans. It tastes great surprisingly and not really bitter. As for the vegetarian mock meat fritters, they are rich and creamy as they are doused with generous mayonnaise-like dressing, except that it’s golden in colour. Taste wise still thumbs up
