One of the Original Kayu Nasi Kandar branch is located at Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara. It started out with a stall at a coffee shop in SS2 Chow Yang here back in 1974 and grew to become one of the most popular “Mamak” restaurants in Klang Valley and Penang. Today, from the little stall around the corner, many such eateries have envolved into much bigger establishments with some owning chains of restaurants that carry same name. Nasi Kandar had its humble origins in Penang Island, Nasi’ means rice in Malay while ‘Kandar’ refers to a formidable stick that is slung across one’s shoulder to carry heavy objects securely hung on both ends of the stick. Their signature dish of course is Nasi Kandar, Roti Tissue, Lassi drink and Cheese Naan. Today morning, we have decided to atop by here for breakfast. We have ordered Roti 3 Rasa ( Egg, Planta & Kaya) and ready made Fried Rice. The roti is so tasty, especially when dip inside the dal. The fried rice is just normal only. As for drink, we have ordered Nescafe Tarik and Teh Tarik. Overall, the food is expensive compare with other normal mamak shop. But with their quality of food and nice environment, I think is worth the money.
