Roasted pork and Char Siew | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Roasted pork and Char Siew

Whenever come to lunch time, we would be scratching head, thinking where to eat. As we were driving out on the lookout for lunch spot, came one suggestion to try at Hung Kee at Jalan Loke Yew. It was said that their wantan noodle is famous and also its roasted poultry. There we go! Upon arrival, it was quite crowded for it isn’t a spacious outlet. Anyway, we manage to secure a cozy corner in a partitioned room. We just follow suit with a friend’s suggestion of what menu to have. Wantan Noodle We ask for a plain one and only come with veggie for we will be pairing it with other side dishes. The noodle to me was meagre and nothing much to boast about. Greens were very much less but the wrapped wantan was merely satisfactory. Luckily the food weren’t too salty to my liking. Roasted pork and Char Siew The roasted pork was delish as lean meat was available in balanced proportion with fatty layer. The skin was crispy and went well with the inhouse chilly sauce. I think I still prefer to go with a bowl of white rice with this Siew Yuk. As for Char Siew, it’s overly fatty to our dismay and we ended up leaving most of the portion on the plate. Good that underneath these meats lay a bed of cooling cucumber. Belacan Fried Chicken This snack was kinda addictive and inviting. Not only crispy on the outside, but also tender and succulent in the inside. The meat was still soft though being fried and quite aromatic. We were quite curious on what are the techniques use when preparing this dish. I guess enough with the meat dining, so we called for stir-fried lettuce. At least some fibers to help with our digestion. Greens were fresh and crunchy as well. Overall, I would just give this restaurant a pass then :D
