I had been reading the reviews on Taiwan Recipe from this contest, some of the review really made me drooling. Im a big fan of sinful food, which mean, the less healthy type of food as long as it taste great, I dont mind taking them. I been targeting the Braised Pork Rice Set and my friend ordered the Cheesy PorkChop Rice Set. Braised Pork Rice- when it was served, I was pretty not-satisfied with it as it is quite healthy actually, the fat layer is quite thin. I was expecting the oily and flavourful braised pork like what my mum cooked. Anyway, to my surprise, It taste kinda good too. The braised gravy is herbal based, the strong herb taste really wakes up my taste bud. The pork is well-cooked and quite chewy too. Cheesy PorkChop Rice Set- The pork chop are fried to golden brown and the cheese is put on top while it is still hot. Quite nice though, as the cheese melt and the magic happened. The fragrant of the cheesy fragrant bright up the dish. The pork chop is crispy and well marinated. The cheese really harmonised with the pork chop. It taste really nice. Minced Pork Rice- the rice well cooked, still have the chewy texture in it. Honestly, I would prefer to have a more strong flavour minced pork, but this mild saltness really bring up the natural sweetness of the rice. 3 sides dish- I like the pickle vege very much, not so sour, and the crunch is really nice. sadly, the quantity is really small. The fried roll is very flavourful, I am pretty sure it is not locally made, as I never tried roll that is as nice as this. The tofu is quite nice too. Soak-cooked in some braised gravy, the gravy smell din covered the natural sweetness of the tofu. The soup- This is really my favourite. I feel like drinking my mum's cook. It is really flavourful and nice. This flavour can only be achieve by hours of shimmering and real ingredient. Desert- citrous flavour jelly. A great ending after the really flavourful and heavy meal. Sourness and sweetness is balanced, and the chilly jelly simply swim in your mouth and into your stomach. It ease down the oiliness taste. Its was prett good experience dining here, and as a uni student, we got extra discount for using the siswa card. The waiter is nice and smiling all the way. Thumbs up for a female chinese waiter who served me. Its a bit lengthy, but I dont care, this is my experience on dining here =)
