Salad | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Salad

Nestled in the suburb of Ara Damansara lies this humble German restaurant, i.e. Bavarian Wirthhaus. As we are not that familiar with this area, it actually took us about 1 hour lingering around Ara Damansara before we finally reach our destination. Luckily the journey doesn’t affect much of my anticipation for this German traditional cuisine, Schweinshaxe. It is actually famous dish of a roasted hock with history back in Bavaria. But of course, you need not travel that far to try it out, thanks to the ever-expanding eatery chain in Malaysia. The portion is quite big for you to finish off alone. It comes with side dishes like Sauerkraut, mashed potato, salads and also the main star, pork knuckle. I think the pork has been marinated earlier before roasted until the skin is crisp but the meat is still tender. I enjoy the mash potatoes and the salad very much as the former is so fragrant with the mild buttery and cheesy taste whilst the latter is very refreshing with the crisp of the greens. You could also topped off with some black pepper sauce for better aroma :) As for this special item of Bavarian culture, it’s bit sour that I thought it is some vege pickles. Later I found out that it’s actually sour cabbage, if translated directly, which has been fermented and is known for its various nutritious. Apart from the acidic flavor, it has got some chewy texture too. Good try! Next to join us is this lighter meal Meatloaf. It is my first time trying such loaf other than the usual bread loaf, hehe. Glad that it leaves me with a fond and most importantly, delish epicurean experience. Nicely presented in this white plate are salads, mashed potato and also the meatloaf that is topped off with two cutesy Sunny Side Up. It looks like the ubiquitous Continental breakfast by the way. Upon taking a bite of the meatloaf, it goes down really smooth on my taste bud. It is achingly smoky and juicy too! I suppose this ground meat has been thoroughly marinated beforehand and then formed into a loaf, before it is being baked. This Hackbraten is also soft and mild crispy on the outer skin, but still leave the inner meat tender and juicy. Compared to the pork knuckle, this is much less fatty and the portion is just nice for me. The coarsely mashed potato and salad are still equally good! Lecker, slurps !!
