Planning for a short escapade over the weekend? Then vacationing at Grand Lexis might be a good choice as you could rest your sinew with some indulgence of a drink or two at its Pool Cafe while having a good suntan at the sun-kissed pool. You may also partake from a selection of light foods served at the covered area after a few invigorating laps perhaps:P I guess some morsels of light carbo food would be a great idea at this casual café. Assorted salads come in time too:D I especially enjoy chewing these little corns heartily. Not only they are sweet but also good in nutritional values especially a good sauce of fibre. Else, you could opt for their cucumber salad. They are quite refreshing though after some great strokes :P Should you are caught with hunger pangs, this simple pasta could make quite a decent meal. With a mound of grated cheese on the top, the penne is also mixed with tomato paste and also assorted vegetables like diced capsicums, cucumber, carrots and slices of olive (my favourites!) It could be bit dry, so you could help yourself with some Seafood Chowder soup and bread-n-butter as well. However, it lacks the creaminess and viscosity part, therefore not that delish to my liking. Talking about it, make me yearns back the sumptuous fare I have at Vogue Café. Slurps! As for the dessert part, it seems pretty normal. They are merely decent cakes but nothing to boast about either.

Nestled in the suburb of Ara Damansara lies this humble German restaurant, i.e. Bavarian Wirthhaus. As we are not that familiar with this area, it actually took us about 1 hour lingering around Ara Damansara before we finally reach our destination. Luckily the journey doesn’t affect much of my anticipation for this German traditional cuisine, Schweinshaxe. It is actually famous dish of a roasted hock with history back in Bavaria. But of course, you need not travel that far to try it out, thanks to the ever-expanding eatery chain in Malaysia. The portion is quite big for you to finish off alone. It comes with side dishes like Sauerkraut, mashed potato, salads and also the main star, pork knuckle. I think the pork has been marinated earlier before roasted until the skin is crisp but the meat is still tender. I enjoy the mash potatoes and the salad very much as the former is so fragrant with the mild buttery and cheesy taste whilst the latter is very refreshing with the crisp of the greens. You could also topped off with some black pepper sauce for better aroma :) As for this special item of Bavarian culture, it’s bit sour that I thought it is some vege pickles. Later I found out that it’s actually sour cabbage, if translated directly, which has been fermented and is known for its various nutritious. Apart from the acidic flavor, it has got some chewy texture too. Good try! Next to join us is this lighter meal Meatloaf. It is my first time trying such loaf other than the usual bread loaf, hehe. Glad that it leaves me with a fond and most importantly, delish epicurean experience. Nicely presented in this white plate are salads, mashed potato and also the meatloaf that is topped off with two cutesy Sunny Side Up. It looks like the ubiquitous Continental breakfast by the way. Upon taking a bite of the meatloaf, it goes down really smooth on my taste bud. It is achingly smoky and juicy too! I suppose this ground meat has been thoroughly marinated beforehand and then formed into a loaf, before it is being baked. This Hackbraten is also soft and mild crispy on the outer skin, but still leave the inner meat tender and juicy. Compared to the pork knuckle, this is much less fatty and the portion is just nice for me. The coarsely mashed potato and salad are still equally good! Lecker, slurps !!

Guess another round of fantastic, gastronomical experience at Gaucho Grill. Apart from its vast fusion of Western and Italian food, you may also try their seafood selection like sole fish, surf & turf selections, spaghetti and lots more. As we were still undecided of where to grab our lunch on Friday afternoon, so I suggested trying the lunch set at the Argentinean restaurant, since it’s just a stone’s throw away from our working place Each set came with a glass of Iced Lemon Tea and soup of the day apart from the main dish. You may also help yourself with the assortments of garden salad at the salad bar corner. The greens are as fresh as ever with varieties of dressing to choose from. Soup for that day was Onion with Mushroom. I couldn’t guess it as it looked brownish and more cloudy than the usual I have. So am bit skeptical in the first place, hehe. However, the soup did taste quite good. It’s a bit salty but came with mild sweetness from the onion slices, which were added in large quantity. But that had overpowered the mushroom taste. Soon, our main dishes had arrived. Grilled Sole Fish was the first one. Like its namesake, this flatfish is really flat. They are mostly found at the Atlantic Ocean and make quite a popular dish especially in Dutch culture. The fish meat was indeed sweet with a slight crispy skin on the outside, as it’s been grilled. It tasted just as good as by itself without much marinade. Or, you may pair it with the pickled cucumbers that came along with some grilled potatoes as well. The potatoes were very, very nice and aromatic for they are grilled with some herbs. Good one! Next would be the mouth watering Grilled Chicken Thigh. With some simple but artistic garnishment, it was enough to arouse you appetite. The chicken meat itself was tender and piquant, albeit it had been roasted thoroughly. The outer skin was very crispy and not oily, which at one point, reminded me of German Pork Knuckle, hehe.. Zesty! Last but not least was the Seafood Marinara Spaghetti. It came in a huge portion with generous assorted seafood such as calamari rings, prawns, mussels and tomatoes slices. The prawns were especially fresh and succulent, they were very big too! ^^ As for the calamari and mussels, they were pretty tangy and blends in well with the tomato based sauce. Such a zippy dish to complete our scrumptious lunch!
