Against the modern set up, Ying Ker Lou Restaurant still offers customers a variety of authentic Chinese-Hakka Cuisine. It’s located at one of the convenient mall, The Curve, which makes it very community-friendly especially for those looking for a simple family’s hang out with cozy dining. It has a nice and simple wooden décor. Each table is given a number and it’s pretty huge! Haha…Not sure why…keke. Anyhow, as hunger gnawing, we just got ourselves comfort with delicious meals :) We have the famous Hakka Lei Cha. I asked for brown rice for a healthier meal^^. The color combination of the dish is very presentable and appealing to a vege person, like me :P As roughly counted, it has a mixture of about 8 minced ingredients in it, like bean curd, long beans, dried radish, scallion, groundnuts and sesame, just to name a few. This dish comes with a green bowl of Lei Cha, aka Green Tea, with a tinge of saltiness. People used to labeled this dish as an acquired one as they often got intimidated by the greenish soup, but its OK with me. Healthy anyway & green to environment! :P For meatier choice, you may want to try Hakka Minced Pork Bantiao. The noodles are home-made, thus free from preservatives and are quite springy indeed. A few meatballs are also accompanying the plain noodles, but was nicely spiced up by the minced pork which is adequately marinated. Light and scrumptious indeed. If you’re looking for something lighter, then Hakka Pan Mee comes handy. It has a clear, anchovy-sweetness soup with Pappardelli-like noodle width. Added with some “Kau Choi” , mushroom slices, spring onions and pinch of fragrantly-fried anchovies, make the dish simple and delish as it is. Not much flavoring are added I suppose. But if you’re a truly vegetarian, sweat not, as they also cater for it. Clear soup Bantiao with various vegetables is good to go. You can savour an assortment of fresh greens like carrot, mushroom and Siew Pak Choy too. Does fit a healthy greeny-crunchy dish too! :P To clear the throat, you may try their Sweet Potato dessert with Barley drink as well. Nevertheless, I guess my mom’s recipe of Sweet Potato dessert fares better :P Hehe….
