Penang is truly a food paradise, where every corner may have some food hunters craving for their favorite Penang street food. Of course, the best Penang street food often are come from those food stalls by the road side. On the last night staying in Penang, my friend and I have visited New Lane Hawker Centre which is located at Lorong Baru and accessible from Jalan Macalister. The food stalls usually opens from 5pm to 11pm. I have ordered 2 fried items from New Lane Eng Kee food stall - Seafood Fried Koay Kak and Fried Prawn Omelette. Koay Kak was tasty but the seafood was quite little. Prawn Omelette was good, not too oily and prawn was fresh, it's just too much of starch. I was quite disappointed with the Char Kuey Teow with duck egg ordered from another stall. Does not have the distinct smell of duck egg at all. Leng Chi Kang or lotus seed sweet soup was cooling and refreshing with right level of sweetness. Ingredients are lotus seed, ginkgo, longan, white fungus and rock sugar.
