Restoran Pangkalama is a shop with many years of history in selling their famous 'Hee kiao mee'. Apparently there is a shop somewhere else before they have move to this new place. Now that they are at a shop with more spaces and brand new, things are looking really neat and clean. This shop is strictly non halal and that is probably their selling point and what makes them so popular. The noodles are delicious it normally comes with quite a bit of pork lard. Upon ordering from the waiter, you will be ask to choose from 'mee', 'mee hoon' and 'kuey teow' for your 'hee kiao mee'. That is pretty much the standard on their menu. Other than hee kiao mee they also sell those ingredients which you can eat together with your mee which is like 'yong tau foo'. They sell fish ball, fish paste, dumplings (fish,prawn and pork),vegetables and others more. Well if you ask me, I can honestly tell you small eaters have no need to add any other ingredients as the noodles itself would have been accompanied by some fish balls already. There is a self service of pork lard and chili and since those pork lards are always so irresistible, I would say let’s go easy with the pork lard if you are watching your diet.
