Portuguese Village in Melaka is famous for its fresh and affordable seafood. There is a foodcourt with few shops selling seafood, and whenever you go near there, you will be surrounded by waiter, inviting you to their place, quite a scary experience though. We visited J&J, and had Fried Kang Kung, Fried Sotong, Barbeque fish, Prawn, and lala. Fried Kang Kung- Normally I had kang kung with belacan or some chilis, and this is the 1st time I had kang kung fried with some sourish sauce. sourish taste, crunchy texture really goes well with the rice. Fried Sotong- Crunchy and chewy texture of the squid, with thin batter and special sauce. Simple and delicious dish. Barbeque Fish- The fish will test nice no matter how you cook it, as long as the fish is fresh. The fish taste fresh, and the sauce simply enhance the taste of the fish. The gravy is a bit sourish, and really go well with the rice. I like the chick fish flesh, it taste nice even without the gravy. Prawn- My favorite seafood. It is quite huge, and I enjoy every bite of the crunchy fresh prawn. We had fried prawn with bids of garlic and some crunchy batter, the fragrant of butter really enhanced the taste. Lala- They used the same gravy as the fish, but the lala itself is very juicy, and once cooked, the juice will drip into the gravy and make it more seafood-ly sweet.
