It was definitely one of the wonderful weekends I have so far with the epicurean journey that I embarked on since several years ago. And thanks to the same friend who just got back from Australia, could I come to know of another place of indulgence, Checkers. It is actually located humbly at one of the shop lots at Damansara Heights, which you might not be aware if you’re new to this area, at least for me, hehe. The restaurant holds a warm and cozy ambience which naturally makes diners feel at ease the moment they set in. Since Yule’s festive is just around the corner, there are also Christmas embellishments decorating the modest space in the homey way. The surrounding is also further spiced up with several artistic paintings hanging on the walls. The shop owner was very attentive. Soon our appetizer; Grilled Calamari, arrived! I thought it was some big rings, but turn out to be a huge squid nicely sliced and grilled to perfection. It’s very chewy and fresh. The dipping sauce that came together was very uniquely blended. It gave the mixture flavor or BBQ and some lime or lemon zest, which made it very savory. Soon the main entrée joined the table. First to come is this widely recommended by my friend; Porky’s Best. It’s actually the Southern style of BBQ ribs with corn on the cob and also mashed potatoes. It came from both world, back ribs and also spare ribs. The meats were adequately marinated and grilled to perfecto! With each part of meat was fully immersed with inhouse secret recipe, there were so juicy and a joy to be shared :D The accompanied salad was pretty special too. You would find red beans, papaya, tomatoes, red and green capcicums. They made a great companion and was thus, so delish! Besides the famous best, you may also want to try their Grilled Pork Tenderloin and Sausage. The meat was very tender and succulent. Though the meat was lightly chargrilled (I suppose so for the meat came with an intense aroma of charcoal), you could still occasionally enjoy the juices of the meat and best paired with their inhouse relish As cliché would have it, dinner wouldn’t be complete without dessert, hehe. Therefore, we tried the signature Porky’s Wild Dessert- Drowned. With the addition of alcohol, I guess it’s an acquired taste and still an enjoyable one. Pretty extraordinary and awesome! ^^
