Char Siew Rice | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Char Siew Rice

The name Hong Seng is quite an unknown among PJians, but when you ask about famous chicken rice, they will definitely know which restaurant to go to. In normal day, this shop closed after few hours of business, normally from 10am- 3pm. And during lunch hour, the restaurant will be full of customers and one may need to queue for 20-30 minutes to buy this delicious chicken rice. Ironically, I was one of the one who queue up for half an hour to buy this chicken rice. The restaurant was full house and I can only take away. Not really like to tapao the food, because the tapao's quality are not as great as eating there, and they used polystyrene to pack your food, but I had to, since there are no seat available. The boss is very particular with his product. Her staff who packed the rice for me, he noticed the amount is a bit lesser, quickly he add in for me. I ordered a chicken rice and char siew rice. Chicken rice is my favorite. They drizzle a bit char siew gravy on the chicken to make it more flavorful. I think it is why their chicken rice is favor for all. The gravy is sweet with little salty, the same gravy used to marinated the char siew. I always ask the boss to give me extra gravy, and he will generously give me a lots. The chicken is crispy and tender but lack in flavor, hence it depend on the gravy to bright up the sense. Char Siew is nice too. The meat is not too oily, but at the same time not too dry too. I like the char part of the char siew, bitterly sweet.
