In Petaling Streets, there are many snacks which dont have a proper shop. They can be a small kiosk or just a motorbike with stove and cooking pans. A motorbike selling traditional chinese snack, BAN JIAN KUIH is one of them. It is sold by an old uncle. BAN JIAN KUIH- is basically a thick batter cooked on pan, with sugar and peanut at the inside as filling. I once observed the uncle while he is making the kuih, he soaked pandan leaf with hot water, and wait till the water to cool down, and used the water to mix with flour. After getting the correct consistency, he scoop the batter and put it into the hot pan. He close the pans and let the batter cook, and will put in a generous amount of sugar and peanut after that and closed it again. Then he flipped the batter and pour the kuih out. The hot kuid is very fragrant and made all passer-by's mouth watering. It is like selling hot pisang goreng, finish within few minutes after he cut the batter. The kuih has a very chewy texture, the pandan water do make the kuih more fragrant with little pandan flavor. The fragrant and texture of peanut really make this kuih special. For me, it is a bit too sweet, but it is acceptable. I had quite a few pieces when it was hot.
