Yakiniku | JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia

Yakiniku

After being smitten by the Japanese spread at its first outlet at Sri Petaling, here we are again, but at its newly opened second branch at Taman Connaught, which is just barely a week’s years old :D Upon entering Kanpai Japanese BBQ & Bar, we are greeted by some familiar faces of the staff, whom we have seen a week ago. They are still that friendly and hospitable. The theme for this new outlet however, it’s slightly different from the previous one where here, you would see unfinished bricks work with cement, decorating the wall aesthetically. The ambience over here is much more casual and airy as well. As the shop is still new, you would also be greeted with the many flowers stands that are sent by the friends alike to congratulate the owner on this happy occasion. After tasting this fare; Kyusu Ramen Smoked Duck, I would strongly recommend Kanpai Japanese BBQ & Bar for its many varieties of ramen. The tonkatsu (pork bone soup), is boiled till it is thoroughly infused with the richness from the pork bone but not over doing it. Unlike the authentic way as prepared by Japanese chef, the soup served here is of lesser porky taste but still delish to the taste bud. I personally enjoy this milder version of tonkatsu very much, and you would also be able to taste some gentle touch of sweetness from the smoked duck too. I must say the Yakiniku smoked duck is very succulent and juicy with a thin layer of fats on the top layer. Besides, the egg yolk somehow has added some milkiness to the broth as well. Ooishi ne! Slurps In conjunction with their new opening, there is an ongoing promo at 50% for ala carte Yakiniku dishes. Surely we are not going to miss it. Thus we tried the Yakiniku Squid, Shoulder Butt and Pork Belly. The pork belly being the best! It is very tender and when it is grilled, the layer of the fats that are slightly burnt, gives out a very alluring taste to the palate and we can’t help but to indulge more :D As for the shoulder butt of the pork, it is equally good with leaner meat of better texture, and fares better than the rather bland squid. Of course, not forgetting to round up another sumptuous Japanese fare with its green tea as well as some ice cream! ^_^
